Meet Jan

At heart I am a carpenter.

Working with wood runs in the family..
My great-great grandfather immigrated
to the U.S. from Germany and worked as a sculptor in New England, crafting
beautiful stone sculptures and wooden ornaments for local universities, private clients and even president Lincoln’s chair (no joke).

I also was born In Germany and my personal path led me to studies in
visual arts, an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker, working for years in a high-end furniture shop, immigrating to Canada where I earned my Red Seal as a Joiner, Co-founding a local renovation business and finally starting ICI here in the Okanagan.

Travelling and having lived in multiple different countries taught me a sincere appreciation for culture and the arts gave me a keen eye for aesthetics.

I follow a “no-shortcuts” work ethic
and a simple rule:

“Every small step matters, because a good result is never a single big outcome - it's every detail and small step along the way.”

Let’s walk there together - step-by-step.

Let’s shape your space!

-Jan‍ ‍

What We Do

We do our best to continuously engage in a transparent and sincere process with our clients.

  • Kitchens are at the heart of what I do — I understand them from the ground up. Panels, fillers, hardware, alignment, and final detail work all get the same attention: nothing installed until it's square, nothing finished until it's tight

  • Every piece is matched to the right system for its application — mounting method, hardware, and technique selected for the specific wall, floor, or substrate involved. Precision placement, correct levelling, secure mounting, clean integration with existing trim and cabinetry.

  • Baseboards, casing, reveals, scribe work — the details most people never notice until they're wrong. Fitted tight and finished clean, this is the work that elevates the whole space

  • Service work is core to what I do, not an afterthought. Adjustments, reinforcements, improvements — done properly, with no "good enough" shortcuts.

  • I know these systems because I've worked with them directly — installation, service, and maintenance. Ideal for higher-performance builds and high-tech sector needs.
